Lady Gaga z 12 nominacjami otwiera listę faworytów do tegorocznych Video Music Awards, a za nią Bruno Mars, Kendrick Lamar i aż 33 debiutujących artystów. Ceremonia odbędzie się po raz pierwszy w nowojorskiej UBS Arena, z transmisją na żywo także dla polskich widzów. Edycja 2025 wprowadza nowe kategorie i większe zaangażowanie fanów w głosowanie.
CBS i MTV ogłosiły listę nominowanych do tegorocznej edycji „Video Music Awards”, jednej z najważniejszych i najbardziej prestiżowych nagród muzycznych na świecie. Gala, która od ponad czterech dekad celebruje twórczość artystów kształtujących popkulturę, w tym roku po raz pierwszy odbędzie się w nowoczesnej UBS Arena w Nowym Jorku.
Liderką tegorocznych nominacji została Lady Gaga, która otrzymała aż 12 wyróżnień, w tym w najważniejszych kategoriach: Video of the Year, Artist of the Year oraz Best Album. To już trzeci raz w jej karierze, gdy przewodzi w liczbie nominacji (poprzednio w latach 2010 i 2020). Artystka ma na swoim koncie 18 statuetek i należy do grona najczęściej nagradzanych gwiazd w historii gali.
Tuż za nią uplasowali się Bruno Mars (11 nominacji) oraz Kendrick Lamar (10). Po osiem nominacji zdobyły ROSÉ i Sabrina Carpenter, natomiast Ariana Grande oraz The Weeknd zostali wyróżnieni w siedmiu kategoriach. W gronie najczęściej nominowanych znaleźli się także Billie Eilish (6), Charli XCX (5) oraz Bad Bunny, Doechii, Ed Sheeran, Jelly Roll, Miley Cyrus i Tate McRae, każdy z czterema nominacjami.
Tegoroczna edycja przynosi także kilka nowości. Po raz pierwszy przyznane zostaną nagrody w dwóch nowych kategoriach: Best Pop Artist oraz Best Country. Ponadto aż 33 artystów debiutuje na liście nominowanych. Wśród nich znaleźli się m.in. Alex Warren, Blake Shelton, Brent Faiyaz, Gigi Perez, KATSEYE, Lainey Wilson, Mac Miller, ROLE MODEL, sombr oraz The Marías. Część z debiutantów zdobyła więcej niż jedno wyróżnienie, ROSÉ aż osiem, Gigi Perez i Alex Warren po trzy. Swoje pierwsze solowe nominacje otrzymali m.in. Damiano David, Leon Thomas, JENNIE, Jimin i JISOO.
Fani mogą głosować na swoich faworytów do 5 września, do godziny 24:00 czasu polskiego, za pośrednictwem strony vote.mtv.com. Głosowanie obejmuje 19 kategorii neutralnych płciowo. W kategorii Best New Artist głosy będzie można oddawać aż do momentu rozpoczęcia ceremonii.
Dodatkowo, 18 sierpnia ogłoszona zostanie finałowa szóstka w kategorii Song of the Year. Trzy najważniejsze kategorie, Video of the Year, Artist of the Year i Best New Artist, objęte będą specjalną aktywacją na Instagramie @VMAs. Fani, komentując przypięte posty z odpowiednimi hashtagami do 8 sierpnia, będą mogli zdobywać dodatkowe głosy dla swoich ulubionych artystów.
Gala MTV VMA od lat przyciąga największe gwiazdy światowej sceny muzycznej. Ubiegłoroczna transmisja osiągnęła najwyższą od czterech lat oglądalność na wielu platformach (+25% rok do roku) i ustanowiła rekord w mediach społecznościowych, z ponad 66,7 milionami interakcji.
Polscy widzowie będą mogli obejrzeć transmisję na żywo w nocy z niedzieli na poniedziałek, 8 września o godzinie 2:00 czasu polskiego na antenie MTV. Powtórka zostanie wyemitowana tego samego dnia o godzinie 10:20.
