Ostatni tak dobry rok w muzyce. Ale tylko z perspektywy słuchaczy klasycznego rocka. Chyba faktycznie już nigdy potem w trakcie jednego roku kalendarzowego nie okazało się aż tyle dobrych płyt z rockiem symfonicznym, hard rockiem czy glamem. Jednak na rockowym mainstreamie muzyka bynajmniej się nie kończy. W podziemiu rósł w siłę avant-prog, a wielkimi krokami nadchodziła tzw. punkowa rewolucja - w 1975 roku antycypowana na "Nadir's Big Chance" i w pewnym sensie na "Metal Machine Music". Poza tym wciąż dobrze miał się jazz - w zelektryfikowanej odmianie odnoszący choćby komercyjne sukcesy - a także musica popular brasilera czy funk, coraz mocniej przebijała się również progresywna elektronika, a Brian Eno był coraz bliżej skodyfikowania swojej koncepcji ambientu. Świetny rok, ale w kolejnych wciąż miało się dziać mnóstwo ciekawego.
