Montbrun Winner of the Grand Prix Artistique de l’Algérie, Simon Mondzain is a painter of Polish origin. He trained at the Beaux-Arts in Krakow before moving to Paris, where he joined the artistic circles of Montparnasse. Mondzain discovered Algeria in the 1920s and settled in Algiers, where he developed a more luminous style, marked by Mediterranean landscapes. His style combines Cubist influence and colorful expression, capturing the atmosphere and culture of the region. His major works include Le Café maure and Femme aux voiles, paintings that reflect his poetic view of Algeria.
