Oasis brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher have arrived in Dublin for their sold-out Croke Park concerts this weekend, but the pair are maintaining their distance by staying at separate luxury hotels. Noel has checked into the five-star Carton House in Maynooth, while Liam will arrive at the Powerscourt Hotel in Wicklow on Saturday morning ahead of their first performance.
Noel arrived at Dublin Airport's VIP lounge on Friday afternoon and was later spotted enjoying a pint of Guinness at Brady's pub in Maynooth to the delight of local punters. The rest of the band, including guitarist Paul Arthurs (Bonehead), Gem Archer and Joey Waronker, are staying at the five-star Merrion Hotel in south Dublin.
Security and logistics
A 20-car security escort team has been arranged to transport the brothers around Dublin during their visit. The extensive security measures reflect the massive attention surrounding the reunion shows at the GAA stadium.
The group will bypass their usual sound check as stage crews were still assembling equipment on Friday afternoon. Band members have been enjoying Dublin's offerings, with Bonehead sharing social media photos of swimming at Killiney Beach and exploring Dun Laoghaire.
Luxury accommodation details
Noel's choice of Carton House comes with rooms costing upwards of €450 per night at the historic estate set within 1,100 acres of parkland. The property has welcomed Queen Victoria, Princess Grace, Mick Jagger and Lana Del Rey, and served as a filming location for Barry Lyndon.
Liam's Powerscourt Hotel offers rooms ranging from €240 for deluxe accommodations to €1,200 for premium suites. The venue has hosted celebrities including Ariana Grande, David Bowie and Jackie Kennedy Onassis, and was the wedding venue for Irish footballer Robbie Keane in 2008.
International fan pilgrimage
Fans have travelled from across the globe to witness the historic reunion. John and Leigh-Anne Donovan from Toronto are attending both Dublin shows before flying home for two more concerts in Canada.
"People asked us why are we going to four concerts in two weeks, and we're like it is basically one concert every four years," John explained. Isabella Cometti travelled from Recife, Brazil, describing her excitement: "I was thrilled when I heard about their reunion."
Pieter, his wife Maaike and friend Carmen from Rotterdam spent six and a half hours securing tickets. "How cool is it now that we have both brothers at the same time playing, it's probably even better," Pieter said.
