During my 25 years running NWN!, I’ve been fortunate to work with many legendary bands and to release or reissue some of my favorite records. These opportunities remind me how it felt when I started the label, when I was motivated solely by an unyielding passion for this music that altered forever my vision of reality.

One artist whose music provided a crucial gateway to the genre of black metal was Ildjarn. I first discovered Ildjarn around 1996 when I picked up the self-titled album, released by Vidar himself on his Norse League Productions label. With its uncompromising primitivism and raw production, Ildjarn’s music was more visceral, more hateful than nearly anything I had heard at that point. And it remains unmatched to this day.

It is a tremendous honor to announce that NWN! will be working closely with The Devil’s Elixirs label as they roll out their Ildjarn reissue campaign, with NWN!/Helios handling the manufacturing and distribution of these crucial works by one of the most enigmatic artists the underground has ever known. Over the next year, The Devil’s Elixirs Records and NWN! will be reissuing some of the most notable releases in the Ildjarn catalog, including the three major full-length albums, “Ildjarn,” “Strength and Anger,” and “Forest Poetry,” as well as the epic and elusive ambient album, “Landscapes,” the Ildjarn/Hate Forest split, and Sort Vokter’s “Folkloric Necro Metal.”
